Eight Minority Owned/Led Pediatric Health Tech Startups Chosen to Participate in KidX Accelerator Class of 2022
Glendale, CA – The KidsX Pediatric Health Accelerator announced its next round of startups selected to participate in their 2022 cohort. The chosen companies are all women or minority-led/owned startups and were picked from a pool of over 150 applicants. The newly minted 2022 cohort is comprised of startups from the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom. The applicants[MS1] [MS2] represented a widely diverse group of healthcare innovators:
- 57% of all applicants are women or minority-led/owned
- 63% of interviewees are women or minority-led/owned
- 68% of startups invited to Selection Day are women or minority-led/owned
Applicants underwent a rigorous vetting process that included a KidsX Selection Day, a live virtual pitch event for KidsX member organizations to meet and vote for startups that could best solve top problems they are currently facing.
The Accelerator’s unique “reverse-pitch model” allows for the selected company’s products and objectives to align with the needs and challenges of KidsX partner hospitals. KidsX hospitals collaborate to create a “wishlist,” a pre-selected and prioritized set of problems they wish to tackle using innovative digital solutions. The 2022 KidsX Wishlist was used to select the new cohort participants and included the following key issues:
- Pediatric Mental Health & Behavioral Health
- Care Coordination & Adherence
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Chronic Condition Management & Patient-Reported Outcomes
- Game Changing Tech
Since the inauguration of the accelerator in 2021, KidsX startups have launched more than 20 pilots, research studies, or enterprise wide rollouts at KidsX member organizations.
The KidsX pediatric health tech accelerator is funded by the City of Glendale as part of the City’s Tech Strategy. KidsX assembles top children’s hospitals and talented digital health companies to build, test and deploy software solutions to make pediatric care more effective, safe, efficient, and convenient for children and families. The KidsX Accelerator supports early-stage digital health companies to achieve product and business model validation in the pediatric market. Given the access to the highly engaged hospitals in the KidsX network, companies are able to validate product/market fit in pediatrics quickly, saving valuable time and resources.
